Wine Map
The Quinta Anabtawi is located in
Lujan de Cuyo, a city which is located in the southern
district, comprising it and Maipu, Guaymallen, Las Heras and
Godoy Cruz. Here altitudes vary between 2132 and 3444 feet
above sea level. This district is Argentina's most sought-after
for winegrowing as well as for urban development. The majority
of the big, traditional, new and high end wineries are
concentrated here. There are plots of vineyards that are able
to resist land development because of the premium grapes that
they produce. Vineyards and winery visitors will find the
majority of their destinations concentrated here, within a 20
minute radius by car from the Quinta Anabtawi.
This is the map of the location of the major wineries in
Lujan de Cuyo, in relation to the Quinta Anabtawi.
The Top 20 Wineries to Visit:
TAPIZ:
This modern Argentine winery provides the complete wine experience. Its handsome wine
lodge Club Tapiz is the most desired place to stay and the restaurant Terruqo one of the
best eateries in the province. The industrial operation is several kilometers south of
the lodge and the winery guide Carolina Fuller one of the most instructive and enlightening
in Mendoza. The tour includes an invigorating horse and trap ride through the vineyards and
the tasting a fascinating tank, barrel and bottle sampling of their excellent malbec or merlot.
Tapiz wines are getting better and better and the Sauvignon Blanc must be one of the most
interesting whites coming out of Argentina.

RUCA MALEN:
One of the most welcoming wineries in Mendoza, Ruca Malen puts the emphasis on excellent
food, great guiding and first class wines. It is no wonder their lunches are always packed
out and this writer once had to plead desperately that he4d take his own chairs when they
said they had no seats for a booking. Hell, we4ll eat on the floor! The chef Lucas Bustos
will soon be as famous as Frances Mallman and his speciality wine and food pairings an
unforgettable culinary experience. Another plus is their generous habit of keeping your
glass full with ample tastings of all the range, including their top wine Kinien.

CARLOS PULENTA:
This beautiful new winery has already made its mark on Argentine wine and its Vistalba
Corte B is blazing a trail in foreign wine markets. Architecturally stunning, it has a
tasting room where one entire wall is a subterranean cross section of the actual vineyard
clay roots and rocks included. The French restaurant La Bourgogne has deservedly been
voted the best winery restaurant in the world and there is even a two-room posada for high
rollers who love the view and want to stay.

O. FOURNIER:
Architecturally one of the most innovative wineries in the world, O.Fournier4s excellent,
well-crafted wines are proof that the owners did not let experimental design overcome
function. If Darth Vader owned a winery this is what it would look like. Set in a secluded
part of Valle de Uco, the winery is well worth the two-hour trip and the owner Jose M.
Ortega is often on hand to share his accomplishments. There are big plans for a five-star
hotel but there is already a small posada for those who cannot wait. O. Fournier also provides excellent lunches in the modernist visitor center and the guides are always well informed and enthusiastic.

ANDELUNA:
Valle de Uco is the new frontier in Mendoza winemaking and a visit to this high altitude
zone is not complete without stopping off to visit Andeluna. A joint operation between
Ward Lay of Pepsico fame and the Reina family of Rutini renown, the name derives from the
owners spying the moon setting over the Andes as they were constructing the winery (which
is on a slight elevation overlooking the vineyards). For a brand, spanking new installation,
the tasting room has an inviting, old world feel and there is a rare cooler system that
provides wine tastings by the glass. Highly recommended is their Apasionado. Spectacular
lunches are available with reservations (minimum six people) and the overall service is
super attentive and very informative.

FAMILIA ZUCCARDI:
A professional, far sighted operation, Zuccardi were one of the first wineries to embrace
wine tourism and the facility is one of the most visited wineries in Mendoza. That doesn't
mean to say it has succumbed to providing an impersonal service however. The guides are
always enthusiastic, knowledgable and eager to please. Tastings include samplings from the
tank and bottle as well as demonstrations of the winery4s extensive foray into micro-vinification
(experimenting with the most unusual grapes). The attractive restaurant amidst the vines
is famous for its asado-style lunches and ample supply of wine. Also on site is a well-
stocked gift store and art gallery.
